Neyyadiyappar Temple




Neyyadiyappar Temple is situated at Tirunaithanam, 1.5 km east of Tiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur District. Covering an area of two acres, the temple is adorned with a rajagopuram (75 feet high) and two prakarams. The presiding deity of the temple is Nediyadiyappar (Lord Shiva). Goddess Vaalambigai is also worshipped here. The theertham of the temple is Kaveri. Sambandar and Appar have sung pathigams about Nediyadiyappar. There are several inscriptions from the Chola period in the temple. Saptastana festival is celebrated here in a grand manner.
