Netrarpaneswarar-Veezhiazhageeswarar Temple




Netrarpaneswarar-Veezhiazhageeswarar Temple is located at Tiruveezhimizhalai. Situated in an area of four acres, the temple contains a large seven-tiered rajagopuram, three prakarams and 25 theerthams. The sanctum is crowned with a Vinnizhi vimana. The temple also houses a Nandi mandapam and Vowalotti mandapam (100 pillared hall) with many artistic works. Various inscriptions that date back to Parantaka I are preserved in the temple. The sthala vriksham (sacred tree) is veezhi and the theertham is Damodara Theertham. Saints Sambandar, Appar and Sundarar have contributed pathigams in favour of the lord. Various festivals are celebrated here. The main festival is the annual Bhrammotsavam celebrated in the Tamil month of Chithirai (mid April-mid May).
