Neerettupuram




Neerettupuram is a village in Alappuzha District of Kerala. A border to Pathanamthitta District, the place is about 12 km west of Thiruvalla and 23 km from Alappuzha.

Chakkulathukavu Sri Bhagavathi Temple, popularly called Women's Sabarimala, dedicated to Chakkulathamma is a highly revered shrine situated here. Two famous rivers, the Pampa and the Manimala, flow on either side of the temple.

Another attraction in the village is Neerettupuram Boat Race, an event held in connection with Onam. The neck to neck racing of snake boats and smaller crafts is a spectacular and a rare sight for the tourist.

Neerettupuram is about 12 km from Thiruvalla Railway Station, the nearest railhead. The closest airport is Cochin International Airport, about 85 km from Alappuzha town.
