Nedumkayam

Nedumkayam is around 5 km from Malappuram and 18 km from Nilambur. It is famous for its rich rain forests. The elephant training center also attracts tourists. The region is home to elephants, bisons, deers, tigers, blue monkeys, bears, rabbits, wild cats and a variety of birds and reptiles. Half an hour jeep journey from Nedukayam through the dense forests leads to Mancheri, the settlement of Chola Naikars - a primitive tribe. Permission from the forest department is required to enter the forest zone. Nilambur Railway Station and Calicut Airport are the nearest railhead and airport respectively.
