Navraspur

An Ancient Musical Township

Founded by Ibrahim Adilshah II, Navraspur is an ancient musical township, 5 km from Bijapur. It was the center for Hindustani Music. The temple that Ibrahim Adilshah II built stands to this day as the hallmark of a bygone era. Navraspur is a quaint spot surrounded by cultivated plots of ground and forests of prickly pear. The old fort, palaces and other heaps of ruins evoke memories of the past. Sangeet Mahal and Nari Mahal are significant historical monuments. Navraspur festival featuring the maestros of Indian music is held here every year in February.
