National Museum




National Museum, one of the most important and most well-kept museums in India, has a good collection of Indian bronze, terracotta, wood sculptures, paintings, armors, musical instruments, traditional attires, etc. The museum has over 200,000 artifacts of Indian and foreign origin. The museum displays pre-historic archeology, jewelry, anthropology, paintings, decorative arts, manuscripts, wide range of antiques, pre Columbian and western art, arms and armor. From Harappan urns to ancient manuscripts to objects used by historical personalities, the galleries of the museum are a treasure trove of Indian culture. Photography is permitted. National Museum also offer various training opportunities through National Museum Institute, a deemed university. National Museum is situated close to India Gate. It is open between 10:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs and is closed on Mondays.
