Bangalore, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), is a super specialty multidisciplinary institute in the area of mental health and neurosciences. It was formed by the amalgamation of the erstwhile mental hospital and the All India Institute of Mental Health in 1974.
NIMHANS offers Ph D courses, diploma courses, and specialized courses in psychiatric nursing, clinical neurophysiology technology, neurology, biophysics, neurosurgery, psychiatric social work, biophysics, neurophysiology, and neuro imagining and technology.
The institute has more than 21 departments which are fully equipped with modern machines and other instruments. The library and information center, housed in a modern building, has a collection of more than 35,000 books and 40,000 back volumes of journals, thesis and dissertations and research reports.
