Narayana Temple




Narayana Temple is located at Melkote, about 50 km north of Mysore. Lord Vishnu is worshipped here as Narayana. According to myth, the chief idol of this temple was found from the ant hill of Yadavagiri and was installed by Sri Ramanuja, the Vaishnavite saint of the 11th century. The temple also houses the images of Beebi Nachiyar and Ramanuja. The mutts belonging to different sects of Vaishnavites are located on either side of the temple.

Srirangapatna is about 30 km from this temple. Sri Ranganathaswami Temple and Nanjundeshwara Temple are nearby attractions.
