Narasinga Muniyaraiyar was one of the 63
nayanars referred to in the
Periya Puranam. He was an ardent devotee of
Lord Shiva and his devotees. He lived in Tiru Munaipadi. Narasinga Muniyaraiyar used to conduct special
pujas, feed devotees and offer gift of hundred gold coins on each
Thiruvadhirai day. Once on such an occasion, when a devotee came naked with ashes smeared all over his body, Nayanar welcomed him with more devotion and gave him 200 gold coins.
Lord Shiva was highly pleased with this activity and blessed him.
