Naras Devi Temple




Naras Devi Temple is over 400 years old and is devoted to goddess Durga, widely known as Naras Maa. It is situated on the top of Baroha hilly rock at Naras village, located between Gherwin and Samoh in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh. The temple is said to have been constructed by King Kalyan Chand during the capital formation of his kingdom.

There are various tales in association with this temple. According to legend, a huge tree of Summann had once stood at the place where Mata’s temple is located. It is held that once an asteroid type of light appeared on the tree and later Mata’s Pindi was seen below the tree.

A large fair is held here on the day of Sairi which attracts a large number of devotees.
