Nanguneri




Nanguneri, a taluk headquarters in Tirunelveli District, is located about 180 km south of Madurai and 30 km from Tirunelveli. The town gathers importance by the presence of a famous Vaishnavite temple, Totadrinathar Temple, locally known as Totadri Mutt. Nanguneri is surrounded by villages, hamlets, forests, and the Western Ghats. The best time to visit is during the festivals of Panguni (March-April) and Chaitra (April-May).

Mundanthurai Wildlife Sanctuary, Malai Nambi tiger resort, Alwar Tirunagari and Suchindram are the nearby attractions.

Nanguneri is well connected by train from Kanyakumari and Madurai. The nearest airport is at Madurai (151 km). There are regular buses to Nanguneri from Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram, Palayamkottai and Radhapuram.
