Nanda Kund

Devi Kund



Nanda Kund is a charming lake located at the foothills of the Nanda Devi Peak, in Uttaranchal. It is also known by the name Devi Kund. According to legends, a mythical character named Nanda took a bath in the lake and attained the status of a ‘devi’ (goddess). This lake is hence considered as divine.

Sukhram Cave, the famous site for trekking, is situated at a level below this lake. A climb of one hour from this cave leads to the divine lake. The climb is however very treacherous, which is the characteristics of the region. One of the notable peaks in the vicinity is the majestic Maiktoli Peak.

The nearest prominent village is the Khati Village.
