Namik




Namik, a quaint village, is located six kilometers from Gogina in Pithoragarh District. Historically, the village was an important center in the ancient Indo-Tibetan trade route. Namik is noted for the intricate wood carvings that one can see in the traditional houses here. Ram Ganga River flows through the village. Namik serves as a base for a trek to Namik Glacier which is 19 km from here. The village offers panoramic views of Nanda Devi Peak, Nanda Kot Peak and Trisuli I Peak. Nearby destinations are Panchachuli Glacier, Ralam Glacier, Munsiyari, Lilam, Bala, Mapang (3,100 m), Martoli (3,385 m) and Sudamkhal. The village is an ideal base for trekking and mountaineering. The nearest airbase is Pant Nagar Airport. The nearest railhead is at Kathgodam.
