Namdapha National Park in Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh is about 180 km from Dibrugarh, on the India-Burmese border. Comprising the catchments of the Noa-Dehing River, this park has evergreen tropical and sub-tropical forests and alpine forests.
It spreads over 1985 sq km and shelters elephant, tiger, leopard, snow leopard, clouded leopard, golden cat, wild dog, endangered hoolock gibbon, flying squirrel, wild buffalo, gaur, hog deer, sloth bear, bison, Himalayan Tahr, bharal, python, king cobra, wild goats, serow and goral. Bird species include Indian horn bill, white winged duck and cheer pheasants. The park is ideal for trekking and hiking.
The best time to visit is October to March. Accommodation is available at Deban, which is located within the boundary of the park.
The park is around 62 km from Margherita. Dibrugarh Airport (163 km) and Tinsukia Junction Railway Station are the nearest access points. Miao is the entry point for Namdapha. Miao is around 160 km from Dibrugarh, which is best covered by road. Diban, a small village, which is the ideal base camp to explore the park is around 26 km from Miao.
