Nair Purappadu

The fourth day festival of Sarkara Kaliyoot at Sarkara Devi Temple is known as Nair Purappadu. Folklore has it that an extravagant Nair who destroyed all his richness by unnecessary customs came to Sarkara Devi Temple as a refugee and agreed to serve as the protector of the Kaliyootpura. The story of the Nair is illustrated in Nair Purappadu in which the performer is dressed in black beard and pointed cap.
