Naga Yakshi Pedestal




Naga Yakshi Pedestal is situated on the south-west corner of Cochin Thirumala Devaswom Temple in the heart of Mattancherry. It lies next to the Vighneswara Temple at Gosripuram.

The presiding deities are the serpent gods (Nagas). Naga Panchami is an auspicious day in the temple. On this day, abhishek of tender coconut is performed to the granite idol. Another custom of the devotees is the lighting oil lamp for warding off evil.

Other temples in the vicinity are Sri Hanuman Temple, Vrindavan Temple, Shri Mahalakshmi Temple, Sri Garuda Temple and Udyaneshwar Shiva temple.

The temple is about 10 km from Ernakulam Junction Railway Station. Frequent bus and ferry services connect Mattancherry with Ernakulam.
