Science Museum



Museum of Evolution of Life, also known as Science Museum, is situated at Sector 10C, in Chandigarh. Opened in 1973, it is one of the important wings of the Government Museum and Art Gallery. The museum features a Cyclorama Gallery, the first of its kind in Asia, which portrays the origin of the earth and the evolution of life from unicellular organism to multi-cellular plants and animals through the Archeaozoic, Paleozoic, Permian, Devonian, Triassic, Jurassic, Oligocene, Miocene and Pleistocene periods.

Near the Cyclorama gallery there is a painted panel showing the map of archaeological sites in Chandigarh.

Other main galleries in the museum include Astronomy, Archaeology, Pre-historic and Geology presented with scientific and technical display. There is a reference library with a large number of books on evolution, paleontology, zoology, botany and biology.

Museum of Evolution of Life remains open from 10:00 to 16:40 hrs on all days except Monday and official holidays.
