Mullurkara

Mulloorkkara



Mullurkara, also spelt Mulloorkkara, is a small village in Thrissur District of Kerala. The place was once the seat of Manakot Nair, the chief of Ayirunad. Mullurkara lies on the Wadakanchery-Shoranur road, around 25 km north of Thrissur.

The ruins of a port built by Paliyathachan in 1740 are the main attractions. Thiruvani Kavu Bhagavathi Temple is a place of worship here. Pooram Festival, Navratri, Laksharchana and Prathishata Dinam are the main festivals of the temple.

The famous Koodalmanikyam Temple is a nearby excursion. Mullurkara Railway Station, on the Shoranur-Thrissur railway line, is the local railhead. Cochin International Airport and Calicut Airport are the nearest airports.
