Mukhathala is a small village in the Kollam District of Kerala, situated about 8 km from Kollam. Agriculture is the main occupation of the villagers. Cashew factories are abundant in this village and in its vicinities. Other industries include brick making, wood matches and oil extractions.

Murari Temple at Mukhathala is widely known in the entire district. St.Jude High School is a premier educational institution here. Kundara, famous for clay products, is nearby. Kannanalloor, Kottiyam, Umayanalloor and Chathannoor are the nearby places.

Trivandrum International Airport and Kollam Junction Railway Station serve this area.
