Mukesh Chandra Mathur, a famous playback singer in Hindi Films, was born on 22nd July, 1923 in Delhi to a middle class family. A well known Bollywood actor, Motilal, introduced him to playback singing in movies. Mukesh sung thousands of songs, popular ones being from the films, 'Pehli Nazar', 'Awara', 'Shri 420' and 'Mera Naam Joker'. He was recipient of several prestigious awards. Mukesh died on August 27th, 1976.
