Mudi Uzhichil

Mudi Uzhichil, the eighth day festival of Sarkara Kaliyoot, is performed as a part of the ritual in Sarkara Devi Temple. Tradition recounts that the anger ridden Devi seeks Darika, the demon, in all the four directions. Lord Shiva sends Sage Narada to enquire about the battle. Narada informed Lord Shiva that Darika was defeated in all the 64 stages. Lord Shiva meditated Shakti and appeared in the thrikannu of Lord Shiva. After this the Bhadrakali, entered in to the mountain, as a fire bowl. The mountain exploded and the angry Devi came out attaining the power for Darika Nigraha. This is called Mudi Uzhichil by the devotees.
