Mubarak Mandi Palace, the erstwhile royal residence of
Dogra Kings, is a palace complex situated in
Jammu,
Jammu and Kashmir. The palace has a history of over 150 years; the complex?s oldest buildings dates back to 1824.
The palace architecture represents a unique blend of Rajasthani, Mugal and Baroque European influences. The most beautiful segment is the Sheesh Mahal. The Pink Hall now houses the Dogra Art Museum which showcases about 800 rare and exquisite Pahari paintings from Jammu and Basoli schools of paintings.
The halls and galleries of the complex were used for official functions and ceremonies. These buildings, constructed around a beautiful garden cum courtyard, became the venue for important events for royal audience and common men.
The palace site has a commanding view of Tawi River and old city built on the hillock.
Today Mubarak Mandi Palace complex stands as a valuable monument associated with Dogra monarchy and also houses over 76 government offices and courts.
