Mor Suborn-Mor Aphroth Church




Established in 825 AD, Mor Suborn-Mor Aphroth Church, coming under the Malankara Syrian Orthodox diocese, is located at Meykavu village in Akaparambu, Ernakulam District. Positioned in Aluva, the church got the name from Mor Sabor and Mor Aphroth, two saints who came to preach the Gospel.

The church arranges a fully vegetarian feast on the 19th of vrischikam (December 2). The foundation day of the church is held on July 2nd and Holy Mass is also offered on the same day. Weddings and many other functions are held here on a regular basis. There is a traditional lamp called 'aluvilakku' that can hold 72 wicks. Another attraction is the baptismal font carved out of a single stone.
