Mon




Situated at an altitude of 895 m, Mon is the headquarters of Mon District, Nagaland. This city is 275 km north of Kohima and 280 km from Dimapur.

Mon, home of the Konyak tribe, was ruled by hereditary chiefs known as Anghs. The main attractions are Shangnyu, Longwa, Veda Peak, and Naganimora. The Angh's house at Chui, Mon Tangnyu, Sheangha, Chingnyu, Wakching and Jaboka are also worth visiting. The most colorful festival of the Konyaks -'Aoling Monyu' is celebrated during the first week of April.

Nearest railhead is Simaluguri Junction Railway Station in Assam.
