Menhir

Menhirs are memorial pillars built in memory of the deceased by the tribal community of Madhya Pradesh. These pillars (wooden posts) are made of teak wood. Skilled tribal wood carvers do the carvings on the post. It is believed that with the deterioration of the pillar, the soul of the person, in whose memory the pillar had been erected, will be freed.
