Melsittamur




Melsittamur village is a famous Jain center located about 20 km from Tindivanam in Viluppuram District, Tamil Nadu. The village has two temples and a Jain math. The huge temple of Bhagvan Parshwanatha has seven storied main entrance. The other temple is devoted to Bhagvann Neminath. It is believed that mahamunis Shri Sandhi and Pandit constructed the temple.

The Jain math has a rich collection of ancient idols in precious stones and gems. Valuable scriptures on Jainism are also kept here. Brahmotsav festival is celebrated for 10 days on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanthi.
