Melamarudur

Melamarudur is a town in the southern side of Tiruvarur District, close to Nagapattinam District border. Tiruvarur is around 40 km north and Thiruthuraipoondi, the taluk headquarters, is 8 km north.

At about 23 km west lies Muthupet, an ideal place for fishing, pearl hunting and bird hunting. Point Calimere Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary is 25 km away.

Tiruchirapalli Airport, 111 km north-west, is the nearest airport. Nearest railhead is Tiruturaipdi Junction Railway Station. Nearest town is Adirangam, 3 km away.
