Mattul




Mattul, a popular tourist spot, is a town in Kannur District of Kerala. It is 16 km north-west of Kannur.

The place finds mention in the travelogue of Ibn Batuta - a Muslim traveler. The Kuppam River flows through the eastern border of Mattul and joins the Valapattanam River here before merging with the Arabian Sea. The climate of the village is humid.

Nearby cities and towns are Kannapuram to the east, Valapattanam to the south-east and Taliparamba to the north.

This town, on the National Highway 17, has good road communication to all parts of the state. Calicut Airport, 117 km away, and Kannur Railway Station are the nearest access points.
