Matola is situated 18 km north-west of Kilarni, in
Latur District. It lies right on the district’s southern border, which it shares with the
Osmanabad District. Lohara is the nearest major settlement on the other side of the border, around 13 km south of Matola.
The medieval Nilanga Temple at Nilanga, Naldurg Fort and Tuljapur are within easy access from Matola.
