Mata Murti Ka Mela

Mata Murti Ka Mela is a major fair held at Badrinath Temple, in Uttaranchal. On the particular day the mother of Shri Badrinathji is worshipped and hence the name Mata Murti Ka Mela. Legend has it that, when the Ganges River descended on earth for the welfare of the human beings, she divided into twelve channels. The spot where the river tumbled became Lord Vishnu’s adobe and came to be known as Badrinath.
