Mata Bhaderkali Temple




Mata Bhaderkali Temple is a beautiful shrine situated at Sheikhupura, in Kapurthala, Punjab. The temple built in 1885 is dedicated to Mata Bhaderkali. The temple has now become a major pilgrim center in Kapurthala District.

The annual mela celebrated for two days is attended by thousands of devotees from far and near. The mela starts with a huge procession, starting from Shalimar Garden to the temple at Sheikhupura. A ‘night vigil’ or Jagrata is organized on the same night (Ekadasi night) followed by a ‘Havan’ at the time of dawn. A kavi darbar (poet's meet) is also organized on the Ekadasi night.
