Martha Mariam Jacobite Syrian Church




Martha Mariam Jacobite Syrian Church is a 14th century church situated at Karakunnam, close to Muvattupuzha. In 1982, this ancient church was renovated and consecrated by the late lamented Catholicose of Malankara named Aboon Mar Baselios Paulose II. The altars of the church are dedicated to the apostles St Peter, St Paula and St Mary.

The main festival of the church is annually celebrated on November 28 with pomp and merriment. Spiritual organizations like Youth Association, Sunday School and Evangelistic Association are actively functioning here. This church owns another shrine at Puthuppady junction, dedicated to Patriarch St Elias III of Majanikkara. An ancient chapel containing the Holy Relics of Mar Geevarghese Sahado, Mar Kuriakose Sahado and Mar Shemuel Kadiso, is located nearby.
