Marayoor




Marayoor is situated about 40 km away from Munnar. Comprising a group of 5 tribal villages, Marayoor is the only place in Kerala having a natural growth of sandalwood trees. The ruins of new Stone Age civilization have been discovered here.An ancient Buddhist cave church and the sacred groves of this village are interesting aspects.

Tourists can visit the sandalwood factory of the forest department, the caves (muniyars) with murals and relics, and the Children's Park. Thoovanan Waterfalls and Rajiv Gandhi National Park are nearby.

To get to Marayoor, Ernakulam Junction Railway Station (173 km) and Cochin International Airport (199 km) are the nearest connecting points.
