Marakkanam Reserve Forest is located 30 km north of
Pondicherry in
Cuddalore District of
Tamil Nadu. It is an area of 1273 acres, situated along the coast at 79 degree east and 12 degree south. The forest comprises three small dry areas of land namely Kurumbaram, Agaram and Marakkanam. The average annual rainfall is 1300 mm with a six month dry season from December to May.
Marakkanam Reserve Forest is located 70 km south of Chennai. The nearest airport is Chennai International Airport. Cuddalore is linked by rail to Chennai via Viluppuram. Cuddalore is well connected by road to Pondicherry (25 km).
