Mannan Purath Kavu Temple




Mannan Purath Kavu Temple is located at Nileswaram, the cultural center of Kasargod District. The presiding deity here is Goddess Durga.

The specialty of this temple is the Kurathi, a ritual performed here by sacrificing cocks. The pujas are performed by a sect called 'Pidarar'. Tuesday and Friday are very important days in the temple.

Thousands of devotees throng during Kalasam, which is held annually at the temple in the month of Edava (May). Theyyam is a major attraction during the festive season. Various cultural performances and religious rites are also organized.

Nileshwar Railway Station is the nearest railhead on the Kannur-Mangalore rail route.
