Manjanikkara




Manjanikkara Village is located near Omallur in Pathanamthitta District. The village got its importance form the mortal remains of Mar Ignatius Elias III (Manjinikkara Bava), the Patriarch of Antioch who died during a visit to India. The tomb of the patriarch is a popular pilgrim center for Christians. The Manjanikkara church and diocese derives its importance from the holy tomb.

The best time to visit is during the annual festival, Manjanikkara Perunal(orma perunnal) of the Church, held in February.

Nearest railway station is Chengannur, about 30 km from Pathanamthitta. Nearest airport is Trivandrum international airport, about 120 km from Pathanamthitta.
