Manimahesh Yatra

Manimahesh Yatra is a pilgrimage wherein the pilgrims start from Lakshminarayan Temple in Chamba and reach Manimahesh Lake to take a holy dip in the lake. The yatra is undertaken every year, fifteen days after Janmashtami. The pilgrims walk barefoot, singing bhajans in praise of Lord Shiva. After the yatra, the pilgrims visit the ancient Chhatrari temple situated between Chamba and Bharmaur.

Manimahesh yatra has been declared as a state-level fair by the Himachal Pradesh Government. One must be physically fit to undertake this yatra. Manimahesh can be approached directly from Pathankot via Chamba and Bharmaur, which is a popular itinerary.
