Manakkula Vinayagar Temple is situated behind the Raj Niwas on the shore of Pondicherry Town. Dedicated to Lord Ganesh, the temple is about 500 years old. The Vinayaka in the sanctum is a majestic figure. There is also a smaller Vinayaka image and that of a serpent helix. The major festivals held at the temple are Vinayaka Chaturthi and the 18-day Brahmotsavam.
