Mamangam




Mamangam, celebrated during the time of Zamorin - the ruler of Malabar, was one of the prominent festivals of Kerala.

Celebrated once in 12 years, it was held at Thirunavaya in Malappuram District. The rulers from all parts of the state used to participate in this grand festival, and the Emperor of Kerala was selected at this time.

Mamangam lasted for about 28 days. It was conducted for the last time in 1755.
