Malayam




Malayam is a picturesque hamlet, near Mukkuni Hill, in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. It is located about 10 km from Thiruvananthapuram.

The popularity of this village centers around the Malayam Shiva Temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple celebrates an annual festival, which culminates with Ezhunnallathu ceremony. Another attraction here is Malayam CSI Church. Several other smaller temples and churches can also be seen here.

Malayam is noted for its scenic beauty, dotted with paddy fields and dense trees. During night, the place is alluring with a cool and soothing climate. Malayinkeezhu, with its Sree Krishna Temple, and Kattakada are some of the surrounding places. Besides, Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is easily accessible from Malayam.

Malayam can be approached from Pappanamcode Bus Station on National Highway 47 and Thiruvananthapuram City Bus Station. Trivandrum International Airport, 20 km away, is the nearest airport and Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station, 10 km away, is the nearest railhead.
