Makaleshwarar Temple is located at Tiruvirumbaimakalam in

Lord Shiva in the form of Makaleshwarar. There is a separate worship place for Goddess Kuyinmozhi Nayaki. Saint Sambandar is said to have composed pathigams praising the lord Makaleshwarar. The temple is approximately 8 km north-west from
Pondicherry railway station.
