Maithri, a non government organization run by Maithri Foundation Trust, is located at
Kochi in
Kerala. The prime objective is to provide emotional support to distressed persons and to reduce deaths due to suicide in the society. The word meaning of Maithri is friendship. In pursuit of this objective, Maithri offers befriending services in which the worried person can communicate with Maithri through a direct visit, telephone or letters. They conduct suicide awareness programs in matters such as myths and facts about suicide, helpful and harmful attitudes towards a suicidal person.
