Mahat Pura




Mahat Pura is a place of historical importance. It is associated with the great epic Mahabharata. This place is located in Modadrumdvip, Nadia District.

Legend has it that once Yudhisthira had a dream in which Lord Balram appeared before him and told him to go to Navadvipa Dham, where Lord Chaitanya would appear. The place where he had this darshan is called Mahat Pura. The place is same as that of Kamyavana in Vrindavan.

Sri Madhavacharya is also said to have visited this place. By rail, Modadrumdvip is one mile from the Purvasthali railway station. Navadvipa station is nearby. By road, buses ply from Navadvipa to this destination.
