Mahasudarshana Homa

Mahasudarshana Homa is performed to appease Lord Sudarshana (Lord Vishnu) for the removal of all enemies and avoiding accidents. The homa is also performed to remove astrological flaws and to achieve victory, courage and prosperity. Sudarshana Chakra - the divine disc of Lord Vishnu- is one of the Lord's prominent weapons used to destroy evil forces. In Vishnu temples, the image of Lord Sudarshana is seen with eight or sixteen hands.

According to Ahirbhudniya Samhita, Lord Sudarshana protects his devotees from the afflictions caused by incurable diseases, sorcery or enemies. It is believed that Sudarshana Homa will alleviate the sufferings of this nature. The Yantra (a symbol embedded in metal) used in the homa, is a source of divine and auspicious energies and a panacea to all negative influences.
