The Mahaganapathi temple is situated at
Bangalore in
Karnataka, and dedicated to
Lord Ganesh. Other deities in the temple are Lord Satyanarayana,
Lord Hanuman, Goddess Adi Parasakthi and the
Navagrahas (the nine planets of the solar system).
This temple is believed to have an ancient history dating back to pre-historic times. Legends are popular about the establishment of the temple during a great yajna (elaborate ritual worship) of the mythical Seven Holy saints, or Saptarshis, to please Ganesh.
There are several educational institutions that are affiliated to the temple directly. The temple is a haven to people from all classes and walks of life, whose prayers are believed to be answered by Ganesh.
