Maha Lakshmi Amman Temple




Maha Lakshmi Amman Temple is located at Mettumahadanapuram in Karur District, Tamil Nadu. The temple that dates back about 800 years was built by King Krishna Deva Raya. The place is also known after the king as Krishnarayapuram. The deity of the temple is Goddess Lakshmi. The idol of the Goddess was found in the broken form when unearthed. Due to this reason the devotees follow a peculiar style of worship. The priest breaks coconuts over the heads of devotees as offering. The festival time is in the Tamil month of Aadi (mid July - mid August).
