Established in 1996, Madras Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (MIHMCT) offers 3-year diploma course in food production and patisserie, food and beverage service, bakery and confectionery, accommodation operations and front office operation. Advanced diploma courses (one year) are also provided. The institute is managed by Saraswati Educational Cultural and Charitable Trust.
Facilities include computer lab, training restaurant, production kitchen, front desk training unit and library. There is a museum of heritage utensils. Students are engaged in social welfare activities such as girl child programs, blood donation camps and community services. They spend their leisure time in social, cultural and sports activities. Separate hostels are there for boys and girls.
Training in airlines/cruises, six months industrial exposure training and one month winter training in star hotels are offered. The placement cell arranges internship for students and assists in placements. Campus interviews are conducted.
