Madivala Lake, maintained by the State Forest Department, is located in south Bangalore
. The lake has a wide catchment area and is fed to the maximum level during the monsoon season. The fast growth of the city caused Madivala Lake to become polluted with encroachments into the catchment area and inflow of sewage water. However, the lake which encompasses 108 hectares, is under restoration for island formation, bund formation, wetland and recreational area, with the intention of transforming it into one of the vibrant lakes in the city of Bangalore. Madivala Lake is an excellent location for birding.
