Madhva Sarovar




Madhva Sarovar is a holy tank located in the main entrance of the Udupi Sri Krishna temple. It is believed that River Ganges feeds this tank every 12 years. Water from this tank is sacred and is regularly used for worship. According to traditional belief, Sri Madhvacharya installed the statue of the main deity in the middle of the 13th century. The grand chariot festival of the temple is also carried out at this location.
