Established in June 1950 as the first post-graduate science department in
Rajasthan, the Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Department Of Geology has raised itself to a league of its own in the arena of research and teaching. It has done pioneering work in the study of Precambrian Geology of Rajasthan with respect to its petrology, structural geology and tectonics, metallic and industrial minerals, and stratigraphy. The Department has also made significant contribution in the studies of fossils of Rajasthan,
Gujarat, south and east India. The University has also organized a number of seminars and advanced courses along with producing 74 Ph. D theses and several publications.
